Rockridge Neighborhood Photo

Rockridge is an established and popular Oakland neighborhood at the base of the hills, known for its boutiques, artisan foods, and lovely homes. It lies to the north of Piedmont, to the west of the Temescal district, and to the east of the Bushrod district and gets its name from the local rock formations formed by the Hayward Fault. In this area, you'll find 24 Highway. Redwood Regional Park, Lake Merritt, and downtown Berkeley can all be reached within a 12-minute car ride. There is a BART station in the area.

Located at the intersection of College Avenue and Keith Avenue, the popular and densely populated Rockridge Market Hall is home to a variety of food vendors. It's possible to sit on the sidewalk. It serves as a community center and hang-out place on weekends.

College Ave, the main thoroughfare in the Rockridge area, is always bustling with people going to and from businesses and bars, and restaurants. College Ave has everything you could want, including a Trader Joe's, from antiques and vintage clothing to salons, shoes to music, and Japanese cuisine to pizza. Here is a directory of businesses that can be found in Rockridge. Just south of the area, on the corner of Broadway and 51st, is a Safeway.

Ramen Shop, Millennium Vegan Cuisine, Crepevine, and Côté Restaurant are some of the most well-known restaurants in the area.

East Bay Booksellers replaced Diesel Books, another local institution that had been there since 1971. A lot of locals frequent the Rockridge Branch of the Oakland Public Library.

The Rockridge-Temescal Greenbelt Park was created by the local community. Commonly referred to as "Frog Park," after the Friends of the Rockridge Temescal Greenbelt (FROG), the group responsible for the park's construction. In 2001, FROG was formed, and with community support, they were able to raise over $100,000 for the park's greenbelt. It consists of a landscaped path that winds its way along Temescal Creek from Hudson Street to Redondo and Clarke and connects two play structures that were constructed entirely by volunteers.

Rockridge is a desirable area because of its historic cottages and attractive gardens. Big, beautiful homes from the period between 1906 and 1920 populate the residential streets of Rockridge. A small number of the original Rockridge residences from the 1880s are still standing.

The Rockridge BART station provides the quickest and most convenient access to the rest of San Francisco. You can also take the NL transbay bus, which will get you there. Pickup for the ad hoc carpool occurs at the intersection of Hudson Street and Claremont Avenue.

Among Oakland's many great communities, Rockridge ranks high on the list of places people want to call home. Rockridge is an excellent location due to its historic homes, wide streets, convenient shopping and dining, and range of transportation choices.
