Glenview
One of Oakland's most desirable areas, the close-knit neighborhood of Glenview has been a prize of the East Bay for decades. Some of its advantages are traditional mom-and-pop stores, green spaces, tree-lined streets, brightly painted bungalows, a welcoming atmosphere, and easy access to major thoroughfares.
Located in Oakland's hills to the east of Trestle Glen and Crocker Highlands, south of Montclair, west of Dimond, and north of I-580, is the neighborhood of Glenview. Lake Merritt, downtown Oakland, and Redwood Regional Park can all be reached in under 15 minutes by car.
Small but enchanting Craftsman and California bungalows from the 1920s make up Glenview's housing stock. Many of these houses have been meticulously renovated and now have modern conveniences like updated kitchens and bathrooms, while others are just waiting for you to put your personal stamp on them. These houses typically have tiled fireplaces in the living rooms, redwood decks, brick patios, flower gardens, and formal dining rooms with built-ins.
Stores and services abound in the vicinity of Glenview, thanks to its location between the communities of Oakmore, Trestle Glen, and Piedmont.
On Park Boulevard, the main drag through Glenview, you can do some shopping or catch up with neighbors before heading to Dimond Park for a picnic or a dip in the public pool; it's the perfect way to spend a Saturday afternoon.
Restaurants like Banana Blossom Thai, Bellanico Restaurant and Wine Bar, the popular brunch spot Blackberry Bistro, Taproom, Sushi Park, Paulista Brazilian Kitchen, Diggery Inn, and Park Burger can be found along Park Blvd in the Glenview neighborhood.
Along Park Blvd, you'll also find various services and shops, including dry cleaners, nail salons, a post office, and a florist. Kids in the area love East Bay Dance Center because it offers dance lessons, summer camps, and extracurricular activities.
It's easy to see why Oakland's Glenview neighborhood is so desirable, what with all the great places to eat and shop, the proximity to parks and other recreational areas, the charming homes, and the convenience of the nearby BART station.
